|Varietal(s)||100% Touriga Nacional|
The fruit for our Rosé is sourced from two distinct sites: the Luchsinger Vineyard in Clear Lake AVA and St. Amant Vineyard in Amador County of the Sierra Foothills. 2019 marks our 10th year making Rosé of Touriga Nacional from the Luchsinger Vineyard. The vines in this remote 1,400' high site are planted in rocky, alluvial, volcanic soils and thrive in warm days and cool nights, resulting in enhanced body and aromatic lift. In 2015, we were introduced to another fantastic Touriga Nacional vineyard, St. Amant. Planted in 1995 in sandy granitic loam at the base of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, the fruit from St. Amant has a vibrant personality with fine tannins and bright acidity which brings energy to the final blend.
The fruit from these vineyards was harvested separately, and crushed lightly prior to pressing to release some color. After pressing and overnight settling, the juice was transferred to stainless steel for fermentation with native yeasts. The resulting wines were blended together to harmonize for 3 months prior to bottling in late December.
