Pinotage is a grape variety which was created in South Africa by crossing Pinot Noir and Hermitage (also known as Cinsault) in 1925. The Pinotage grape can survive the relatively dry weather in South Africa and produces a fruit forward wine with soft tannins. The majority of the world’s Pinotage is grown in South Africa and offers a unique point of difference in the world market.
