Deep purple color. Has an aromatic and expressive nose with blossom and spiced aromas. Scents of violets, also red and black fruit, delicate hints of anise. On tha palate, the wine iis intense, with fine grain tannins, mineral texture, and elegant finish.
Rainfall, due to the El Nino phenomenon - heavily affected the growing season. The overall average temprature was lower than previous years, provoking an unprecedented thirty-day delay in the vines’ phenolic ripening. Average precipitation in both January and February was above the historical average. Harvest was delayed three weeks, but at the time of picking the grapes presented good concentrarion as well as a marked natural acidity.
Vineyard : Zingaretti Estate. 3,772 feet (1,150 meters). A traditional vineyard, cane pruned, high density plantation and furrow irrigation. This wine comes from vines of more than 80 years old.
Soil: Sandy-loam soil with an underlayment of alluvial round stones.
Hand-harvested - April 22th, 2016
Aging for 18 months in new French oak (55%) in combination with second use oak (45%). Bottled in December 2017.
Unfined and unfiltered.
