Tasting notes

Our 2018 North Coast Cabernet Sauvignon is a dark purple color in the glass, and opens with aromas of cherry and dark berries with
notes of cocoa and cedar spice. The palate is medium bodied and filled with bright, juicy flavors of blackberry, plum, currant and toasty
oak. Soft, chocolatey tannins intermingle with a hint of dried herbs on the persistent finish. Pair with your favorite grilled meats.

Vintage Notes

The 2018 growing season was one of the mildest and smoothest in recent memory. Mild spring weather led to good fruit set in most
varietals and moderate weather throughout the year made for ideal growing conditions. There were no major heat spikes, which gave
us longer hang-time and great ripening on the vine. While a fairly long harvest, the 2018 crop delivered fruit with complex flavors and
was of excellent quality. All the fruit entered the winery from We harvested the fruit from September 20 – October 25, 2018 at
optimum ripeness.

Viticulture

VINEYARDS
This Cabernet Sauvignon comes from our best vineyard sites within Lake County and Sonoma County. The majority of the fruit comes
from Lake County where volcanic, rocky soils and dramatic mountainside vineyards provide intense wines of structure and
concentration. The remainder is from Sonoma County with a small portion from Santa Barbara County. The result is a synergy of intense
favors and distinction.

Vinification

After a three-day cold soak, the grapes were crushed and fermented at relatively warm temperatures in stainless steel tanks. After pressing, each lot was blended or egg-white fined depending on flavor, color and tannin concentration. The wine was aged in 100% oak barrels: French, Hungarian and American. Small portions of Petite Sirah, Merlot and Malbec were added for balance, aromatics and flavor.
